Regional Tours – Western Downs Energy Discovery Tour

October 4 @ 8:30 am 3:30 pm

Discover why Western Downs is the energy capital of Australia.

The Darling Downs Power Station in Kogan is a 644MW gas-fired combined cycle power plant, powered by three 9E gas turbines and a steam turbine. Natural gas is sourced from the coal seam gas (CSG) reserves situated in the Roma and Chinchilla regions. A 205km long domestic gas pipeline connects the CGS fields and the power station.

As part of the Big Skies Festival, join the tour for a behind-the-scenes insight into DDPS, not available openly to the public. See how Origin is responding to changing markets and adapting in response to renewable supply and demand peaks to adapt and improve flexibility as the energy transition accelerates.

On tour, meet Judy & Brian Harms at Jubri’s Hideaway for lunch, a garden retreat filled with surprises and remarkable attention to detail. This experience will leave you feeling recharged and inspired.

For this tour you are required to wear long pants, long sleeve shirts and closed-in shoes. You will be given a high-vis vest to wear on arrival at Darling Downs Power Station.
