Hailing from Brisbane, Pete Cullen Blazes his Outlaw Country trail with Sweat & Swagger!
2024 has started with a bang with Gone Country released at Tamworth Country Music Festival and Disco Cowboy in late March which has been turning heads across the globe! Cullen also released Take Back 8 Seconds in May, a heartfelt tribute to 12 year old Will Murdoch from Ingham Qld who lost his life in a farming accident in 2021.
In April 2023 he toured Nashville USA, recorded with legendary Australian Producer Nash Chambers, performed at Laylas on Broadway, The Blue Bird Cafe and suburban Honky Tonk Jane’s Hideaway!
Pete Cullen and his band The Hurt have headlined Tamworth Country Music Festival’s Americana In The Park in 2020, Groundwater Festival, Gympie Muster, Winton Way Out West and have continued their 11-year residency at the infamous Lefty’s Music Hall in their home town.
His song ‘Tombstone Rider’ has also been synced with Tim Minchin’s second season Upright streaming on Binge.
His new album due out in August 2024 is a nod back to the golden period of 90’s country, the first single Talkin’ Honesty was added to high rotation on ABC Country and added to streaming playlists around the world.
Pete has released 5 albums since 2003 including Tom Whisky Blues with the legendary Rockwiz Orkastra whose band leader, James Black, says of his friend; “Pete Cullen is a singer-songwriter with an awesome voice. He lives the musical life, loves the tradition and most importantly….he rocks hard! Whenever I’m in Brisbane if Pete is playing, I’m going find where he is, go see him and If he’ll let me, I wanna play with him.”
Pete’s music has been featured on MTV, CMC and RAGE and has had high rotation on Triple J.
And on the live front, he has appeared alongside artists such as Lee Kernaghan, Troy Cassar-Daley, Busby Marou, You Am I, Spiderbait and the Hoodoo Gurus.
